Shoulder Pain Demographics:
Who are at Risk and Why?

Shoulder pain is not limited to a specific demographic but some groups are more prone to it than others. Age is a significant factor - older adults are more likely to suffer from degenerative conditions like osteoarthritis that can lead to shoulder pain.

People with physically demanding jobs or sports are at a higher risk. Repetitive movements, especially overhead activities, can strain the shoulder muscles and tendons, leading to conditions like rotator cuff tendinitis.

Those with a history of shoulder injuries or surgeries are also at risk, as past traumas can contribute to chronic shoulder pain. Finally, individuals with certain diseases such as diabetes or heart disease might experience shoulder pain as a symptom or complication of their conditions.
